Did you know that when your Chapter was founded it had to get approval from the campus? All Phi Sigma Pi Chapters are guests on campus and one of the first tasks Founding Members must complete is to show the campus Phi Sigma Pi’s value. This process typically includes a lot of paperwork, presenting the unique experience we provide and our plan to partner with other organizations to further the campus mission. The beginning steps for your Chapter included exploring your unique Chapter identity within Phi Sigma Pi’s overall mission, something your Chapter must evaluate often.

A few weeks ago you got to meet the Eta Xi Chapter at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and today you will learn more about Phi Sigma Pi’s newest Chapter, Eta Omicron.

Early May 2018, 25 Founding Members were Inducted into the Eta Omicron Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi at Appalachian State University. This group has been busy the past several months and here are 5 things you need to know about this new Chapter.

1. The Founding Class invited parents and friends to celebrate their Induction by hosting a reception on campus.

I am looking forward to creating lifelong friends, developing leadership skills, and giving back to the Appalachian community. - Courtney Scherer

2. The Founding Class planned a Tripod cookout event and will send Members to the 2018 National Convention in Phoenix to receive their Chapter Charter.

The Fraternity has already brought me many new friends that feel like family. - Katie Wallace

3. The Chapter is excited to plan their first Chapter Retreat in the fall.

I am looking forward to making new friendships before I graduate. - Samantha Thompson

4. Weekly Meetings were held to ensure all Founding Member requirements were completed. Each week the group did an ice-breaker to foster Member bonding.

Phi Sigma P gives the ability for scholars to aid in community service and opens up opportunities which would not have been in reach without this Chapter - Michala Penninger

5. The Chapter was officially recognized by the campus as a student organization and already has plans to collaborate with other organizations on campus.

We had to work hard together in order to make campus recognition possible and I look forward to seeing what else we can accomplish together. - Leah Fredenburgh
