Eta Mu Chapter at Philly Cup
The Eta Mu Chapter at Philly Cup

The first term for a new Chapter is filled with exciting decisions and plans as the Members work to establish a Chapter foundation and identity on campus. They also work to recruit and Induct the Chapter’s first Initiate Class. One of the most special moments during this process, for any Chapter, is the Big/Little Reveal. This was also the case for Eta Mu Chapter President, Ashley Zimmerman (‘18)  who told us her favorite event so far this term was her Chapter’s first Big/Little Reveal.

The Eta Mu Chapter is not only doing great things locally, they are also embracing the national fellowship that Phi Sigma Pi offers. The Chapter has sent several Members to events hosted by other Chapters, including Philly Cup, hosted by the Gamma Xi and Alpha Lambda Chapters. “My favorite event this term was Philly Cup. We got to meet a lot of people from all different Chapters and learn how they run things in their own Chapter. Everyone was so welcoming and I would definitely want to attend next year!” Alison Engle (‘18) shared about her first inter-Chapter event.

The Members of Eta Mu Chapter have quickly discovered how to live out Phi Sigma Pi’s ideals and have big plans to continue this in the spring. Ashley shares what she is looking forward to next term, “We are currently in the process of planning our first ICR/Philanthropy event called ‘Hoops for the Kids.’ This will be a basketball tournament around March Madness and a percentage of the proceeds will benefit our local philanthropy, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I am looking forward to having our first large event on Rowan’s campus and I cannot wait to see how everything turns out.”

Because of the hard work of these students, future Rowan undergraduates will have access to join this amazing organization. If you know anyone on a campus that does not have a Phi Sigma Pi Chapter, encourage them to email expansion@phisigmapi.org and start a brand new Chapter! Help them have an experience like Eta Mu Chapter Member Samantha Braverman (‘19) : “I could not be more excited to know that future students can now join Phi Sigma Pi at Rowan University. Before joining Phi Sigma Pi, I felt like there was something missing from my college experience, but I just couldn’t figure it out. After joining Phi Sigma Pi, I realized what I was missing was a sense of family and true friendship and PSP gave that to me. I cannot wait for future students to join and feel exactly how I did- that they finally have a place to call their home!”
